Impakt Emporium is half of the national trust registered building ‘Hampton Hall’ (the only historically registered building in Hampton) as well as home to another Hampton St icon directly out the front which is the sole remaining and functional Gas Lamp from over 100yrs ago. The lamp itself would not be out of place nestled amongst the other fascinating items and curios on display inside the shop.
Impakt Emporium owner Nikki has an incredibly astute eye for items that just work. It’s a fresh style that seems to suit a range of different tastes and decors. She has spent many years in the industry, both sourcing and supplying exclusive wholesale products to retailers, and styling and visual merchandising for international events the likes of the Australian Open.
Nikki, though, has always harboured an urge to open her own little store and when the historic Hampton Hall space became available after years of watching and waiting she jumped at the opportunity.
Those looking for a unique collection of home wares, adornments and found objects will not go unrewarded. A strong ethos for natural fibres and materials is evident. The scars should be visible, not hidden. Natural fibre linens, silks and cashmeres are found on offer. What you won’t find is yucky plastics or run of the mill products. For this Christmas Nikki has sourced a range of ‘wire’ goods from Denniliquin that are hand made by a local craft artisan. The range includes ornamental rusted birds nests and xmas trees. Speaking of which, this year Impakt will also be selling real trees as well, so watch out! Anything but plastic, please…!
Nikki is also applying her skills this year to co-ordinate unified Hampton Street Xmas decorations, to give us the best chance of taking out the City of Bayside’s best dressed award!
Impakt is located in the very cool ‘Soho’ district at 366 Hampton Street, south of the railway line on the beach side. This end of Hampton Street has been something of a well kept secret in past, but with some very savvy operators opening up recently this is no longer the case, those in the know have caught on quickly.
